Ice hockey and sausages

As you probably know, ice hockey is among most popular winter sports in Finland. To see three year-olds that has just learned how to walk on the ice skates is not really rare here in Finland. Sometimes it looks like the skates are bigger than their legs, but still they have to learn ice skating as soon as possible if they want to become next great Finnish ice hockey players.

Pori has its own local hockey team – ÄSSÄT and an ice hockey hall where we can see the matches between local ÄSSÄT and another ice hockey team. This weekend they were playing against KalPa - team from Kuopio. Luckily I got a free ticket for the match at the Faculty as they have some free tickets for each match. I met my co-worker Päivi in front of the ice hockey arena, ready for the second ice hockey match in my life. We had really good seats and the atmosphere was really great as well, especially when ÄSSÄT made a goal. Unfortunately it was only once while KalPa succeeded three times. Some of the exchange students have already become ÄSSÄT fans wearing their red-white-black scarves.

One moment I got a feeling that ice hockey match in Pori is like a festival or a concert in town where I come from. Many local people and old friends that you haven’t met for ages, drinking and eating (sausages are very popular here):)

To give you the impression how it was I am sending some photos and one short movie.
